Majuro, Marshall Islands – December 12, 2024 – H.E. President Hilda C. Heine and First Gentleman Thomas Kijiner, Jr. joined the festive Christmas Lighting Ceremony hosted by Mejedrik Club at the Jenrok Track & Field last night. The event was a heartwarming celebration of the holiday spirit, bringing the community together through a show of dazzling lights and cheerful caroling performances by the students of Majuro Baptist High School and the Marshall Islands High School.
The Office of the President and the Office of the Minister-in-Assistance to the President and Environment were joined by the Nitijela and other government offices and agencies in the festivities, where candy treats were distributed to the children to spread Christmas cheer.
As a Christian nation, the Christmas Lighting Ceremony is a religious tradition held every year in the capital city of Majuro to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ and to serve as a wonderful reminder of the hope, joy, and unity that the holiday season brings to the families and communities in the Marshall Islands.
