Majuro, Marshall Islands – December 30, 2024 -The newly appointed Minister of Education, Sports and Training, Honorable Gerald Zackios (Senator, Arno Atoll) was sworn into office in a ceremony attended by Her Excellency Hilda C. Heine and fellow Cabinet members.
The official oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Carl B. Ingram, while daughter Katt Chong-Gum held the Bible. The ceremony took place in the Cabinet Conference Room and was attended by various government officials and family members of the newly sworn-in Minister.
In her remarks, President Heine congratulated Minister Zackios on his appointment and expressed gratitude for his willingness to take on this important role. She emphasized the critical importance of the Ministry of Education in shaping the future of the Marshall Islands and looked forward to working together. President Heine expressed her gratitude to Minister Zackios and looks forward to working together to advance the goals of Agenda 2030, which aims to build a more sustainable and prosperous future for the people of the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
Minister Zackios expressed his deep appreciation to President Heine, the Cabinet, and his family for their support. He acknowledged the contributions of outgoing Minister Joe Bejang for his leadership and service to the Ministry of Education and conveyed his commitment to continuing the work of his predecessor to further enhance the country’s educational framework.
