MAJURO — President Hilda C. Heine today announced a realignment of Cabinet portfolios, exercising her authority under Article V, Section 6(3) of the RMI Constitution to assign and reassign ministerial responsibilities in the national interest. The changes, effective Thursday, May 14, 2026, are designed to strengthen inter-ministerial coordination and enhance the overall effectiveness of the Executive Branch.
In the new lineup, the Honorable Ota Kisino will assume responsibility for the Ministry of Culture and Internal Affairs, a portfolio he has served in a previous administration. His familiarity with the Ministry’s mandate is expected to ensure continuity and momentum in the delivery of services.
The Honorable Jess Gasper, Jr. has been appointed as Minister in Assistance and Environment. Minister Gasper brings a commitment to the environmental stewardship and social support programs that are central to the Ministry’s mission.
The Honorable Bermity Lakjohn will take the helm at the Ministry of Health and Human Services. Minister Lakjohn’s extensive background working within the Ministry positions him well to advance the government’s health priorities and strengthen service delivery for all Marshallese.
