President Heine Meets with Ghana’s Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability

BERLIN, GERMANY – June 19, 2026 – On the margins of the Berlin Climate Mobility Forum, Her Excellency President Hilda C. Heine met with Honorable Issifu Seidu, Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability of the Republic of Ghana, to discuss shared priorities on climate action, resilience, and international cooperation. The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen ties between the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) and Ghana and to exchange perspectives on the growing challenges climate change poses to vulnerable communities around the world.

President Heine and Minister Seidu discussed the importance of ensuring that international climate policies and initiatives address the needs of countries most affected by climate change, including small island developing states and coastal nations. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on the growing impacts of climate change, including sea level rise and human mobility, and the need for continued collaboration among nations to advance effective and sustainable solutions.

The discussion also highlighted the longstanding collaboration between vulnerable countries in advocating for stronger climate action, enhanced adaptation support, and increased access to climate finance. President Heine reaffirmed the Marshall Islands’ commitment to working closely with partners across regions, including Africa and the Pacific, to promote sustainable development, strengthen resilience, and advance solutions that safeguard communities and future generations in the face of a changing climate
