MAJURO, MARSHALL ISLANDS – February 20, 2026 – Her Excellency President Hilda C. Heine and First Gentleman Thomas Kijiner, Jr. joined H.E. Ambassador of Japan Soma Hirohisa, Cabinet members, members of the Nitijela, members of the diplomatic corps, and distinguished guests in celebrating the 66th birthday of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito at the Marshall Islands Resort Poolside.
The celebration featured the customary ceremonial breaking open of a wooden sake barrel, symbolizing prosperity, harmony, and good fortune. The occasion reflected the enduring friendship between the Republic of the Marshall Islands and Japan and the shared aspiration to further strengthen bilateral ties in the years ahead.
