CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA – February 3, 2025 — H.E. President Hilda C. Heine witnessed the signing of a Letter of Intent between the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Government of Australia to support the Marshall Islands Resilience and Adaptation (MIRA) Trust Fund. The agreement was signed by RMI Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Honorable Kalani Kaneko, and Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Honorable Penny Wong, reaffirming the enduring partnership between the two countries as members of the Blue Pacific.
Through the MIRA Trust Fund, Australia will provide USD $2 million seed funding to support long-term climate adaptation, resilience, and mitigation efforts in the Marshall Islands.
