CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA — February 3, 2026 — H.E. President Hilda C. Heine, accompanied by First Gentleman Thomas Kijiner Jr., and members of the official delegation, attended an Official Lunch hosted by Ms Elizabeth Peak, Deputy Secretary and Head of the Office of the Pacific, at the Dame Enid Lyons Alcove, Parliament House.
The luncheon brought together senior representatives from the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Australian Government for strategic discussions on advancing shared regional priorities. Conversations focused on cultural exchange and people to people ties, climate change and adaptation, implementation of the Marshall Islands’ National Adaptation Plan, the Marshall Islands Resilience and Adaptation (MIRA) Trust Fund, opportunities to enhance air connectivity, humanitarian response, and avenues to expand trade and economic cooperation.
The event reaffirmed the strong ties between the two nations and provided an opportunity to strengthen ongoing cooperation across climate, trade, and regional development initiatives
