H.E. President Hilda C. Heine and First Gentleman Thomas Kijiner, Jr. have departed the Marshall Islands to lead a delegation to Baku, Azerbaijan for the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
At this critical climate summit, President Heine will amplify the voices of small island nations and advocate for decisive global action against climate change. The Marshall Islands’ delegation will work alongside other nations to push for stronger commitments to reduce emissions, increase climate resilience, and secure vital support for vulnerable states.
While Her Excellency President Hilda C. Heine will be on duty-travel, Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Kalani Kaneko will be Acting President.
