Majuro, Marshall Islands – Her Excellency President Hilda C. Heine welcomed a courtesy visit from Honorable Governor Stevenson A. Joseph on June 26, 2024. Governor Stevenson conveyed his congratulations to President Heine on her recent inauguration and expressed regret for being unable to attend the ceremony in January due to the proclaimed state of emergency in Pohnpei.
During their meeting, both leaders engaged in fruitful discussions on a range of topics of mutual interest. Key areas of focus included enhancing food security, advancing the energy sector, ensuring water security, and bolstering healthcare initiatives in their respective countries.
Governor Stevenson also took the opportunity to commend the Republic of the Marshall Islands for its successful hosting of the Micronesian Games, highlighting the country’s exemplary sporting facilities and the impressive organization of the event.
The courtesy visit underscored the strong bilateral relationship between the Marshall Islands and the State of Pohnpei, reflecting a shared commitment to addressing mutual challenges and promoting prosperity across the Pacific region.
