Taipei, Taiwan – On May 20, 2024, His Excellency Lai Ching-te was sworn in as the 16th-term President and Hsiao Bi-khim as the Vice-President of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Her Excellency President Hilda C. Heine congratulates His Excellency Lai Ching-te and Vice-President Hsiao Bi-khim on their inauguration earlier today. President Heine also lauded the vibrancy of Taiwan’s democracy as was demonstrated during the recent democratic elections.
The Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Republic of China(Taiwan) continue to share close and friendly ties through shared principles of democracy, rule of law and freedom. The RMI remains committed to further strengthening the strong bond of friendship between the two countries and in the promotion of peace and security throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
