Taipei, Taiwan – A bilateral meeting between H.E. President Hilda C. Heine and H.E. President Tsai Ing-wen, outgoing President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), was held on May 19, 2024.
President Heine expressed heartfelt thanks to President Tsai for graciously taking the time to meet with her despite her busy schedule, and most especially for her unwavering support to the Republic of the Marshall Islands throughout her tenure. President Heine highlighted the significant impact their partnership has had as women leaders and close friends through their commitment to address critical issues such as women empowerment, education, climate change, health, and others for the well-being of the Marshallese community and the overall development of the RMI. Reflecting on their collaborative efforts, President Heine made special mention of the Kora Im An Kil Fund and the Pacific Women’s Leadership Coalition that they were able to successfully launch together and invited President Tsai’s support to these worthy initiatives during her spare time.
With the transition of the new administration, President Heine shared her confidence in President Tsai’s efforts throughout her presidency to have a lasting impact on the continuous progress of the Republic of China (Taiwan). President Heine looks forward to working closely with President-elect Lai and continuing the mutual relationship between the two countries.
