Majuro, Marshall Islands – H.E. President Hilda C. Heine along with other distinguished guests witnessed the handover ceremony of the Passenger Cargo Ship – MV Aelõñlaplap on May 6, 2024, at the Uliga Dock.
MV Aelõñlaplap is a vital addition to the RMI National Fleet managed by the Marshall Islands Shipping Corporation under the Ministry of Transporation, Communication, and Information Technology. The new vessel is a donation from the Japanese Government under the Economic Social Development grant aid program valued at 8.2 million dollars, which is expected to benefit the country by providing more reliable services for the inter-island transport of passengers and cargo.
Minister in Assistance to the President, Bremity Lakjohn, delivered remarks on behalf of the RMI Government – expressing gratitude for the generous contribution from the Japanese Government. Minister Bremity Lakjohn emphasized this sentiment, stating that, “MV Aelõñlaplap is a gift that signifies and strengthens our existing partnership with our Japanese counterparts.”
