Her Excellency President Hilda C. Heine Attends 80th Kwajalein Liberation Day & Inauguration Ceremony
On Friday February 09, 2024, Her Excellency Hilda C. Heine, President of the Republic of the Marshall Islands attended the 80th Kwajalein Liberation Day and Inauguration Ceremony for the Kwajalein Atoll Local Government.
On the occasion, President Heine delivered remarks on behalf of the Government of the Republic of the Marshall Islands where she congratulated the People and Kwajalein Atoll Local Government on this auspicious occasion. She further commended the Kwajalein Leadership for many of the successful projects, such as the seawalls, roads, and etc. “The Government is committed to work closely with the Leadership of Kwajalein to further strengthen the development of the Kwajalein community,” said Her Excellency Heine.
In concluding her remarks, President Heine thanked the People and Kwajalein Atoll Local Government for the kind invitation and warm welcome accorded to her, First Gentleman, Mr. Tommy Kijiner Jr. and the Delegation.
On the following day on February 10th, President Heine joined Honorable Hilton T. Kendall, Minister of Transportation, Communication and Information Technology, and Honorable James Matayoshi, Mayor Rongelap Atoll, for a site visit to Mejato Island (located next to Ebeye).
During the site visit, H.E. President Heine had a good group discussion with the community and she highlighted that the Government will continue to provide support to Mejato in regards to the improvement of the airport runway at Elenaak, health services and food security.
Joining Her Excellency Hilda C. Heine’s delegation were First Gentleman, Tommy Kijiner Jr., Honorable Bremity Lakjohn, Minister in Assistance to the President and Environment, Mr. John M. Silk, Legal Advisor to the President and officials from the Office of the President and Cabinet.
