TOKYO, JAPAN — June 2, 2026 — Her Excellency Dr. Hilda C. Heine and First Gentleman Thomas Kijiner, Jr. attended the Welcome Reception for the Island States Ocean Summit in Tokyo, Japan.
Hosted by the Government of Japan and summit partners, the reception brought together heads of state and government, ministers, representatives of United Nations agencies, experts, members of Japan’s National Diet, and other distinguished guests from approximately 30 countries and organizations participating in the Summit. President Heine welcomed the opportunity to engage with fellow leaders, partners and stakeholders during the reception, strengthening relationships and exchanging perspectives ahead of the official opening of the Island States Ocean Summit.
