President Heine Engages with RMI Ambassadors During MOFAT Ambassadorial Consultations

MAJURO, MARSHALL ISLANDS – January 6, 2026 — H.E. President Hilda C. Heine attended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s (MOFAT) Ambassadorial Consultations held at the Marshall Islands Resort Lomalo Room. The consultations brought together RMI Ambassadors, MOFAT leadership, and representatives of key line ministries to review national foreign policy priorities, strengthen coordination between headquarters and overseas missions, and guide the development of a revised foreign policy framework and a three-year Foreign Policy Action Plan.

President Heine attended the opening program in support of MOFAT’s efforts to align overseas missions with national priorities and advance the Republic’s foreign policy agenda. The Ambassadorial Consultations serve as an internal strategic platform to review government positions, discuss key diplomatic priorities, and guide the development of a revised foreign policy framework and a three-year Foreign Policy Action Plan. In the afternoon, President Heine convened a special engagement with the Ambassadors, where she outlined her Administration’s priorities, key challenges, and expectations for their diplomatic work abroad. The Ambassadors shared updates from their respective postings and engaged in a substantive dialogue with the President, seeking her guidance on bilateral, regional, and multilateral issues.

The Ambassadorial Consultations, held from January 6–9 in Majuro, focus on advancing the Republic of the Marshall Islands’ foreign policy objectives, including nuclear legacy, climate and ocean diplomacy, bilateral relationships and Compact-related engagements, multilateral engagement, development cooperation, economic diplomacy, and consular affairs.
