President Heine Meets with Hilo Marshallese Community Following Keynote Address at the 12th Annual PacYES Conference

Following her keynote address at the 12th Annual Pacific Youth Empowerment for Success (PacYES) Conference held at the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo, H.E. President Hilda C. Heine met with members of the Marshallese community residing in Hilo, Big Island. Despite the community’s busy schedules, President Heine expressed her sincere gratitude to those who made time to attend and to those who generously provided lunch for the meeting before her departure to Honolulu, Hawai‘i.

During the gathering, President Heine and community members discussed a range of important issues, including the ENRA benefits, immigration challenges encountered by Marshallese citizens when re-entering the United States, and potential ways the Hilo community could assist the Government’s ongoing initiatives, such as the Nitijela rebuilding efforts. President Heine commended the Hilo Marshallese community for their continued support, unity, and dedication to maintaining strong ties between Marshallese living abroad and their homeland.
