Majuro, Marshall Islands – December 3, 2024 – Her Excellency President Hilda C. Heine and First Gentleman Thomas Kijiner, Jr., extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to His Excellency President Lai Ching-te of Taiwan upon his arrival at the Amata Kabua International Airport. President Lai’s inaugural visit to the Marshall Islands marks another milestone in the enduring partnership between the Republic of the Marshall Islands and Taiwan.
President Heine, joined by members of her Cabinet, traditional leaders, and a vibrant gathering of both the Marshallese and Taiwanese community, extended a warm and ceremonious welcome to President Lai and his delegation upon their arrival at the airport. This visit underscored the strong bilateral relations between the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Republic of China (Taiwan) reflecting the shared commitment of both nations to sustainable development and regional collaboration.
The state visit comes as part of President Lai’s broader Pacific tour under the theme, “Smart and Sustainable Development for a Prosperous Austronesian Region.” President Heine will accompany President Lai throughout the day for a series of high-level events and engagements in Majuro aimed at advancing the interests of both nations. This collaboration aligns closely with the administration’s focus on sustainable development, climate resilience, and strengthening regional alliances.
