H.E. President Hilda C. Heine Departs for Honolulu to Receive East-West Center 2024 Women of Impact Award

H.E. President Hilda C. Heine and First Gentleman Thomas Kijiner, Jr. will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii, to receive the prestigious East-West Center 2024 Women of Impact Award. This honor recognizes exceptional women leaders who have made remarkable contributions to their communities and the broader global stage.

The award will be presented to President Heine on Friday, October 25, 2024, in Honolulu.

In addition to receiving this distinguished accolade, President Heine has been invited to serve as the keynote speaker at the SPC Pacific Partners Gala, supporting Unlocking Blue Pacific Prosperity, on Thursday, October 24, 2024, in Honolulu. During her visit, she will also meet with the Commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command to discuss matters of regional importance.

Following the award ceremony, President Heine and First Gentleman Kijiner will visit the Big Island on Saturday, October 26, 2024, to visit with the students at Pahala Elementary and High School and will make a quick stopover at the Ocean View – Marshallese Community Resource Fair at the Kona-Ka’u Marshallese Ministry Church in Ocean View. President Heine and First Gentleman Kijiner will be accompanied by Chief of Staff Emma Kabua Tibon, Consul General Glansay Enos, and officials from the Office of the President and the Consulate in Honolulu.

President Heine, First Gentleman Kijiner, and delegation departed Majuro on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 and expected to return on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. While Her Excellency President Hilda C. Heine will be on duty-travel, Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Kalani Kaneko will be Acting President.
