President Heine Meets with HRC President H.E. Ambassador Omar Zniber

Geneva, Switzerland – September 27, 2024 – Her Excellency. President Dr. Hilda C. Heine held a productive pull-aside meeting with H.E. Ambassador Omar Zniber, President of the Human Rights Council, at the Palais des Nations.

During their discussion, President Heine highlighted the urgent challenges facing the Marshall Islands, particularly concerning the legacy of nuclear testing and the impacts of climate change. She emphasized the need for global attention and action on these critical issues, which continue to affect the livelihoods and rights of her people.

Ambassador Zniber acknowledged the significant role that Pacific Islands can play in the Human Rights Council, stating that they can amplify their voices and bring attention to their concerns if they organize effectively.

President Heine and Ambassador Zniber both recognized the importance of solidarity among Pacific nations to advocate for their shared interests and to drive meaningful change on the international stage.
