RESS RELEASE

Majuro, Marshall Islands – August 5, 2024 – The Government of the Republic of the Marshall Islands proudly announces the “Agenda 2030: A Pathway for a Resilient and Prosperous Future,” a comprehensive strategic framework designed to guide the nation’s transformative journey through the decade. This landmark initiative outlines a series of ambitious reforms, modernization efforts, and transformative projects aimed at achieving a resilient and prosperous future for the Republic of the Marshall Islands by 2030.

“Agenda 2030” delineates 35 priority areas and 68 actionable items within eight thematic sectors, each meticulously crafted to address the nation’s most pressing developmental challenges. The framework aligns with the Republic of the Marshall Islands’ National Strategic Plan 2020-2030 (NSP) and builds upon recent policies and strategies. It integrates ongoing programs, including Agenda 2020, and aligns with key global initiatives such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Paris Agreement, the new UN program of action for Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and the Pacific Islands Forum 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent.

The development of “Agenda 2030” was a collaborative process involving extensive dialogue between the Cabinet and various ministries and agencies. This comprehensive engagement enabled the identification of critical priorities and the formulation of key actions that will proactively address developmental challenges and pressing issues facing the Republic. The Agenda is designed as a ‘living’ document, adaptable to evolving development issues and policy changes, ensuring it remains a relevant and effective tool throughout its implementation.
