H.E. President Hilda C. Heine Throws First Pitch at 10th Micronesian Games Women’s Softball Games

Majuro, Marshall Islands – June 17, 2024 — Her Excellency President Hilda C. Heine honored the opening of the women’s softball competition at the 10th Micronesian Games by throwing the ceremonial first pitch at the Jenrok Track & Field.

President Heine’s participation at the event highlighted the nation’s pride in hosting the Games and support for all the participating athletes, coaches, officials, and delegate members. Following the ceremony, a thrilling matchup was held between the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Northern Mariana Islands softball teams, showcasing the spirit of friendly competition and sportsmanship that characterizes the Micronesian Games. The competition is structured as a round-robin in the preliminary to allow more games among the small number of participating teams (Republic of the Marshall Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, and Pohnpei) and double elimination for the playoffs.

The 10th Micronesian Games continue to unite athletes from across the Micronesian region in a celebration of athletic skill and prowess, cultural exchange, and camaraderie. The closing ceremony for the Micro Games is expected to be held on June 24th.
