Majuro, Marshall Islands – Her Excellency President Hilda C. Heine received a courtesy visit from Dr. David Newnham, the new President of the College of the Marshall Islands (CMI) on October 11, 2024.

The meeting provided an opportunity for Dr. Newnham to share his vision for the college and outline plans that will build upon the initiatives established by previous administrations. Dr. Newnham, who worked alongside Dr. Theresa Koroivulaono in previous years as an advisor/consultant in the Marshall Islands, shared his enthusiasm for music and cultural preservation, emphasizing his commitment to enhancing all aspects of educational opportunities and fostering community engagement at CMI.

President Heine welcomed Dr. Newnham’s plans and reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to support educational advancements in the Marshall Islands especially in the outer islands, where there is a strong need to invest in new technologies to enhance distance-learning and teacher training programs.
