Her Excellency President Dr. Hilda C. Heine and First Gentleman Thomas Kijiner, Jr. are leading a delegation to participate in the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79) in New York followed by the 57th session of the Human Rights Council (HRC57) in Geneva, Switzerland.
President Heine’s attendance at these pivotal international events highlights the Marshall Islands’ dedication to global collaboration on pressing issues such as climate change, human rights, and sustainable development. Her Excellency will engage with world leaders, advocate for the interests of the Marshall Islands, and seek to strengthen partnerships that address the challenges facing our islands and the global community.
Members of the delegation to the UNGA79 in New York include Minister Kalani Kaneko, Ambassador John Silk, Ambassador Charles Paul, Chief of Staff Emma Kabua-Tibon, Secretary Isabela Silk, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Her Excellency President Heine, First Gentleman and delegation departed on Friday September 20, 2024 and expected to return on Monday, October 7, 2024. While Her Excellency President Dr. Hilda C. Heine will be on duty-travel, the Finance, Banking and Postal Services Minister David Paul will be Acting President.
